Two New Tai Chi Classes

taichigroupbanner

It was great to have so much interest in our Tai Chi in 2025, and so many new people joining us. And we are going to enter into the Lunar New Year (see below) with TWO new classes, each starting off with a FREE taster followed by a short course for beginners, with our two most experienced teachers.

The classes will be on Tuesday afternoons at the Artrix theatre in Bromsgrove with Michelle Baker, and on Thursday mornings at the historic Coughton Court with Louise Morey. The Atrix taster is on 10th February and the Coughton Court taster is on 12th. You need to book your place at the tasters, because numbers will be limited. You can find out more and get e-mail addresses to book on the class pages. You can even book your place on the first courses to make sure you don't miss out. Here's the links:

The five Chinese elements, sometimes referred to as phases, are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine there is a recognition that we are a microcosm of the macrocosm. Within this, we are considered to have five organs, each corresponding to one of the Five Elements, as well as a season, a colour, a taste, a positive and a negative emotion and many others things.

In this free workshop for LCTKD Teachers, Michelle Baker explores this idea, explains how it relates to our Tai Chi and Qi Gong, and shares some Five Elements exercises.

Peopleton Village Hall
Main Street, Peopleton WR10 2EG
(w3w///flushed.nerves.alarming)
Open to all LCTKD students and invited guests. Numbers are striclty limited. Book below to secure your place.

After their incredibly popular Qigong workshop with us in 2025, we welcome back our friends from Lighthouse Tai Chi with another Qigong workshop.

Wei Qi or Guardian Qi is the protective layer of Qi. This qigong sequence aims to reinforce and boost this layer, as you learn to increase your internal pressure and qi flow, boosting the immune system. The Wei Qi Qigong set is considered a more external Qigong because it uses physical movement, tensions, and hand shapes to assist in the directional flow of the Qi. Focused breath and visualisations will further enhance its effectiveness.

After last year's early sell out, the 2026 workshop is sure to be fully booked. You can secure your place by booking here now.

How Neo Confucianism Shaped Your Martial Art

toigye

Saturday, 12th September, 2026, 3-5 p.m.
In the Halls' Garden (or indoors if the weather insists).
Invited guests only.

In this Zendo workshop over afternoon tea in the garden, Neil R. Hall delves into one of his favourite topics: Neo Confucianism, and how this interesting reinvigoration of traditional Confucianism has impacted East Asian thought for most of the last millenium - and of course found its way into the practice and teaching of martial arts.

It's a topic that most TaeKwonDo students will at least have heard of, through the name meanings of their patterns "Yul-Gok" and "Toi-Gye," but its impact is just as strong - and probably much stronger - in other arts that we teach at LCTKD. In a relaxed workshop for invited guests, Neil R. Hall shares his thoughts on what you will find is a truly fascinating subject.

Though the workshop is for invited guests, you don't need to sit back and worry about whether you will be invited. If you are interested and would like to attend, just contact us to ask about that.
