Iaido is the traditional art of the Japanese sword. More literally, "the way of drawing the sword." It is a fine art with deep Zen connections. Calm, meditative, and challenging in its detail and precision.

Our Iaido in Wellingborough began with a short introductory course for beginners over 4 weeks from January 2025, and have continued from there under the guidance of Barry Jones.

Regular classes are now underway, 7.15 - 8.15 p.m. on a Monday evening.
If you are interested, please contact us to visit for a free class.

What You Need To Start Iaido.
Nothing. We will supply wooden swords for you to begin your journey with. (Real swords are too dangerous to use until you have some experience.). All you have to do is get in touch and arrange to come and try it free of charge.

Most students of Iaido are adults. It is possible for young people and sometimes for children to take part. If you are interested in enrolling someone under 18, please contact us to talk about that.
