LCTKD support for good causes

Our philosophy at LCTKD Wellbeing and London Chinatown TaeKwonDo is built upon a belief in helping others, and we believe that our philosophy should show in action, not just words.  Over the years, we have supported a multitude of charities and good causes, through the commitment of thousands of hours of our time, specialist advice, fundraising events, in-kind contributions, sponsorship and donations from the LCTKD Good Causes Fund.  We are particularly interested in the smallest causes with little or no funding, and in supporting people’s greater participation in martial arts - our own students, students of other schools, and those who have no martial arts involvement at the moment, but with a little help....

We also have some important ongoing commitments.  In 2010 we made the LCTKD Military Services Commitment, in which we have committed to providing free training at any appropriate public martial arts class in our Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Gloucestershire group, to anyone who has been in military service.  Subject to a maximum of 5 enrolled and active students per class under the scheme, you pay only for your licence, grading fees, and equipment.  We will not charge you any training fees.  For life.

In 2011, we introduced LCTKD Work Experience Placements for unemployed people, and LCTKD Student Placements for school or college students.

In 2012, to mark the Year of the Dragon, we introduced the LCTKD Dragon Scholarships - free subscriptions and ongoing support for disadvantaged pupils nominated by their school and extended our Duke of Edinburgh Award work.

What we supported in 2012.

As always, we continued to support the London Chinese Community Centre.

In addition to our day to day work with schools, we also worked on special projects with Dormer House School, Simon de Montfort Middle School, and Chipping Campden High School.

In addition to our ongoing Duke of Edinburgh work, we hosted a young person for their DoE residential this summer.

Also in 2012 we have made a many small donations to charity work supported by our students - there’s just too many to tell you about on this page!

What we’re up to in 2013

As always, we continue our close work with the London Chinese Community Centre.

And our schools work calendar is already busy, with workshops for Dormer House and Chipping Campden Schools already this year.

We are always willing to offer time, specialist advice, participation in events, and other in kind support. If you are one of our students and have a cause you would like us to support, or a school, college or charity with an interest in our work, or just someone with an idea, contact us and let us know.
